A Winchester McDonald’s employee is facing charges after leading deputies on a pursuit through four counties in a stolen car.
Rose Crim, 22, allegedly stole a Chevrolet Trailblazer from the McDonald’s parking lot Wednesday afternoon, according to court documents.
“It was a customer that stopped there,” Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. “She left the keys in it. (Crim) was outside on a break and saw the car roll up.”
Hall said Crim got in the vehicle and drove away.
A Clark County deputy sheriff attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled and went east on Interstate 64.
Crim’s arrest citation said speeds reached 90 mph in Clark County.
Officers set up spike strips at the Clark-Montgomery county line, which she avoided and continued east as other agencies joined the pursuit.
The pursuit continued east along the interstate, adding deputies from Montgomery County, officers from Owingsville Police Department and Kentucky State Police troopers, he said. Winchester Police officers continued with the pursuit as well.
Crim reportedly got off the interstate in Morehead and sideswiped another vehicle before returning to I-64. The pursuit finally ended at the Rowan-Carter county line where deputies blocked the vehicle.
In Clark County, Crim is facing charges of speeding, driving on a suspended operator’s license, first-degree fleeing or evading police, theft by unlawful taking (auto) and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment for creating a risk for the two Clark County deputies.
Hall said Crim will be facing charges in Montgomery County as well.
