There’s a lot going on in downtown Winchester this weekend.

Sunday night, Lexington native and playwright Caitlyn Waltermire Leonard will debut her show, “One More Fine Day.”

According the the Leeds website, Leonard, who is also producing and directing the play, based it on her own struggles with bipolar disease.

The play focuses on the character of Teddy Sewell, who has avoidant personality disorder and agoraphobia, a fear of being in perceived unsafe situations with no easy way to escape.

Sewell is sentenced to a mental institution in 1974, and the play follows the events around Sewell, the other patients and the hospital staff. The play is described as a dark comedy.

There is no admission charge, but the public is encouraged to pay what they can; the event will be a fundraiser to help Leonard finish funding the play.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, the Leeds Center for the Arts will host a benefit concert for the Engine House Deli + Pub. The longtime downtown restaurant is undergoing a thorough renovation to correct structural issues with the building itself.

The concert will be headlined by Chris Bentley, half of Kentucky-based duo Sundy Best. Beggars and Choosers, which has performed at the Engine House several times, will be the opening act.

Tickets are $18, with part of the proceeds going to the Engine House. Donations will also be accepted. Doors open at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Business owner Steve Atkins said the restaurant has helped support other local organizations, and will do so in the future.

Atkins said he plans to buy the building, but the fund-raising is designed to keep the operation going until then.
