A judge denied probation for three people who pleaded guilty to a marijuana deal which ended in a shooting.
Dakota Townsend, 18, and Brandon Hart, 19, were both sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree assault.
A third person, 17-year-old Stacey Stamper, was sentenced to three years for facilitation to first-degree assault.
“The bottom line is you made a drug deal, a man was shot and you attacked him afterward,” Clark Circuit Judge Jean Chenault Logue told Hart Thursday. “There’s no way I can probate that.”
According to Winchester Police, the three met the victim Logan Ramsey on Washington Street on Aug, 30, 2017. Ramsey told police that Stamper set up the meet, but she demanded his money when Hart and Townsend arrived with guns. Ramsey said he turned to run and was shot twice.
Ramsey said he fell and was attacked and robbed by Hart and Townsend.
Robbery charges were dismissed as part of the mediated plea agreement.
Townsend admitted that he shot Ramsey when he pleaded guilty in May. Hart said Townsend was the only one with a gun.
In court documents, Stamper told police Ramsey took the marijuana and ran, while the other two chased him down.
At the time, Townsend and Stamper were juveniles. Both were indicted by the grand jury as adults. Once Stamper turns 18, she will return to Clark Circuit Court to be re-sentenced as an adult.
