A Lexington woman was killed after being ejected from her vehicle on Interstate 64 Monday night.

According to Clark County Coroner Robert Gayheart, the driver has been identified as 35-year-old Angela McKinney. She was pronounced dead at the scene near the 104 mile marker in Clark County.

The crash was reported at 9:19 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes of the interstate. Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said McKinney’s car went off the highway and overturned.

“The vehicle … probably traveled a couple hundred feet before it started overturning,” Perdue said. During the crash, McKinney was ejected and landed in the highway, where she was hit by at least one other vehicle, he said.

Perdue said her vehicle came to rest about 350 feet from where it left the highway and McKinney traveled another 50 to 75 feet.

Other motorists told investigators the vehicle had passed them at a high rate of speed, possibly over 100 mph, and was driving recklessly and erratically, Perdue said.

An autopsy will not be performed, Gayheart said.
