Fiscal Court approves plan for Christmas tree

There will be a Christmas tree in front of the courthouse again this year.
Wednesday morning, the Clark County Fiscal Court unanimously approved a proposal for Pro Lawn to erect the tree in front of the courthouse for $265. The county received one other proposal from Doyle’s Lawn and Landscaping for $400.
The tree will be donated by former county jailer Bobby Stone, Judge-Executive Henry Branham said.
There was little else on the agenda for Wednesday’s regular meeting of the Court. The magistrates unanimously approved the second reading of a joint ordinance to double the meeting pay for members of the planning and zoning commission from $50 to $100 and members of the board of adjustments from $25 to $50. The Winchester Board of Commissioners must approve the ordinance as well before it takes effect.
The court also approved the second reading of a zoning change for property at 390 Athens Boonesboro Road from multiple family residential to planned recreation.
The court also voted to hire Michael Tracy as a full-time temporary firefighter.
