Assault and burglary charges against a Clark man who allegedly hit a woman in the face with a rock are headed to the grand jury.

Zaire Kadeem Dudley, 26, of Denny Avenue, was arrested Oct. 17 for first-degree criminal trespass and resisting arrest as well as a warrant for second-degree assault and second-degree burglary.

Wednesday, Dudley and his attorney waived the burglary and assault charges to the grand jury. Dudley pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and resisting arrest, which are misdemeanors, and was sentenced to time served.

The grand jury can issue an indictment or dismiss the charges.

According to court records, Winchester Police officers were called to the victim’s home Oct. 1 concerning an assault. The woman said Dudley threw a rock at her, which struck her in the face and broke her nose.

On Oct. 2, Dudley reportedly returned to her residence and kicked in the door. She said she called police when she saw he was armed with a kitchen-type knife.

The woman also told police that Dudley assaulted her in June by punching her in the face and breaking her eye socket.

Dudley remains in the Clark County Detention Center.
