A crash which left three people dead in Lexington involved a suspect being pursued by Winchester Police.
According to a Lexington Police news release, Clark County authorities notified Lexington of a pursuit on Interstate 64 west nearing Fayette County. About three minutes later, a crash involving three vehicles occurred on Interstate 75 near mile marker 110 around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Lexington Police investigators believe a Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by 42-year-old Tammy Rodriguez, merged from I-64 onto Interstate 75. The truck then made an abrupt U-turn and continued south in the northbound lanes. The truck then struck a Chevrolet Sonic head-on and then hit a Jeep Cherokee, which rolled over.
Lexington Police said Rodriguez was injured but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. One of her passengers, 35-year-old Debbie Lynn Blevins of Pikeville, was killed in the collision. A second passenger, who was not identified by police, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Both people in the Chevrolet, 26-year-old Taylor Blevins and 20-year-old Caitlyn Bailey, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lexington Police. The driver of the Jeep also received non-life-threatening injuries.
Rodriguez was later arrested for driving under the influence and no operator’s license. Lexington Police said additional charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
Winchester Police have not released any information about the pursuit at this point.
