“I know I’m going to happier here than I would be playing for any other school,” he said.

Buford plans to approach his freshman year with courage and incentive.

“My freshman year is going to pave the way for the rest of my life,” he said. “I need to have confidence and motivation going into it.”

Buford would consider keeping a solid GPA and staying healthy on and off the field a successful first year.

“I want to maintain good grades,” he said. “I can control that, but hopefully I stay healthy too although that’s out of my control. You can only hope for the best.”

Buford said he has managed to balance athletics and academics by his organization.

“You have to have a very careful planned schedule,” he said. “It’s easy to get behind if you don’t.”

Buford said receiving a trophy for “best character” is one of his proudest moments of his career.

Buford is aware what could happen if he doesn’t stay focused on and off the field.

“I want to stay in school no matter what,” he said. “I’ve seen people get in trouble and I will make sure that isn’t going to be me.”
