Weekend ushers in new season

Fall is quickly approaching and promises a lower-key weekend in the wake of Labor Day.

The Winchester-Clark County Farmers Market will have its Fall Harvest Festival Saturday on Depot Street. The festival, which will be during the regular market hours from 8 a.m. to noon, will feature pumpkins, a drawing for a themed gift basket, and free apple cider and Ale-8-Ones.

The weekly market season is also drawing to a close with the unofficial last market on Sept. 30.

Across town Saturday, there will be a benefit car and motorcycle show for gearheads and casual fans. Hot Roddin’ for the Homeless is a benefit event for the Beacon of Hope Emergency Shelter on Bypass Road. the show will be at Car Mart, 1020 Bypass Road, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Registration is $20 at the show. In addition to a live DJ, there will also be food trucks and other vendors on site during the event.
