Police and fire reports for Sept. 28, 2019

CLARK COUNTY SHERIFF

Reports

— At 6:07 p.m. Thursday, deputies were called to 1260 Red River Road after a truck, trailer and ATV rolled into the river after the brakes failed.

Accidents

—At 11:58 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to an injury accident on Iron Works Road in which Gabriela Sanchez of 225 Oxford Drive was traveling west when her vehicle went off the road, overturned and struck a tree. Sanchez and a passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

— At 8:44 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to an injury accident at the 101 mile marker on Interstate 64 in which a vehicle driven by Mutombo Mbaya of Lexington was traveling east when he lost control of his vehicle after passing a truck. His car went into the median and overturned several times before entering the westbound lanes and colliding with a van. The van, driven by Leron M. Washington of Huntington, West Virginia, overturned and came to rest on its right side. Firefighters extricated Washington from the van. Mbaya was ejected from his vehicle and was flown from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Washington was also transported to UK and one of his passengers, Alphonse Brown of Huntington, West Virginia, was transported to Clark Regional Medical Center. A second passenger, Jacob Gilbert of Ashland, was not injured.

WINCHESTER FIRE-EMS

— On Thursday, EMS personnel responded to 12 general medical calls, two cardiac cases, one respiratory case, one diabetic case, one stroke and one overdose.

— At 8:44 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to an injury accident at the 101 mile marker on Interstate 64.

WINCHESTER POLICE

Charged

— Jeffrey Scott Brooks, 26, was charged Thursday with failure to wear seat belt, driving on a DUI-suspended operator’s license and failure to maintain insurance.

— Shawn M. Heaberlin, 21, was charged Thursday with theft by unlawful taking and was served a warrant.

— Nicholas H. King, 25, was charged Thursday with reckless driving, second-degree fleeing or evading police and driving under the influence.

Reports

— At 9:34 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to 5400 Revilo Road concerning a theft. Shawn M. Heaberlin was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking.

— At 1:19 p.m. Thursday, officers took a report concerning an identity theft.

— At 2 p.m. Thursday, officers took a report concerning a stolen purse.

— At 2:53 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to 113 Old Bottom Road fora domestic disturbance.

— At 4:53 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to 252 Mutual Ave. after someone broke into a vehicle and took a laptop computer and bag.

— At 6:24 p.m. Thursday, officers took a report concerning a theft of tools from 425 S. Main St.

CLARK COUNTY FIRE

— At 2:23 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters assisted EMS personnel with a call on Jameson Way.

— At 8:36 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to an electrical fire on Skylark Drive.

— At 11:58 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to an injury accident at Iron Works and Goosey roads.

— At 1:46 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to a structure fire on Trapp Goffs Corner Road.

— At 8:46 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to an injury accident near the 101 mile marker on Interstate 64.

— At 1:52 a.m. Friday, firefighters assisted EMS personnel with a call on Flanagan Station Road.
