Georgetown woman allegedly snorts drugs in police cruiser

A Georgetown woman allegedly pulled a bag of powdered drugs from within her body and snorted some in the back of a Winchester Police cruiser.

Kathryn Ahlers, 28, was arrested Friday night after officers responded to a report of two intoxicated people attempting to drive a vehicle, according to court documents.

When officers arrived at 201 N. Main St., they said Ahlers was attempting to remove a 15-month-old child from a car seat in the vehicle. The child’s diaper and car seat were both “saturated” in urine, according to police.

Ahlers, who officers said was very unsteady on her feet, said she and her boyfriend were trying to travel to Cincinnati from Lexington and got lost.

Officers also noted the car seat was not installed property and was loose inside the vehicle.

After Ahlers was arrested and placed in a police car, officers said she retrieved a plastic bag of suspected illegal drugs from her body cavity, poured some out on the back seat and inhaled the substance. She had hidden the drugs again before she was removed from the cruiser, but surrendered them before entering the jail.

Ahlers was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, endangering the welfare of a minor and tampering with physical evidence.

An automatic not-guilty plea was entered on Ahlers’ behalf Monday in Clark District Court. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 21.
