Baldwin: ‘It’ is not clowning around

Greetings, fun loving cinephiles of Winchester.

Fear will kill you.

Fear causes stress; stress kills you.

Fear will either make one confront to fight the stressful obstacle or take flight by fleeing to distance themselves from the perceived threat.

Coulrophobia is the fear of the clowns.

This fear has increased among society over the years and all of us know at least one person who fears clowns.

The reason for this fear stems from the fact that you can’t tell who his hidden behind the make-up or is a sadistic clown which goes by Pennywise that would like to end your life.

Don’t fear, “It Chapter Two” was released this week and Pennywise has missed you.

“It Chapter Two” is the long awaited second and final horror installment which sees us returning to Derry 27 years after the Loser’s Club’s confrontation with Pennywise the child-killing clown.

The club members are now much older living their lives far away but are called to return to their old hometown which awakens their wounds from the past, dormant fears and their loss of innocence.

A return home should be one of safety to find comfort; not in this case. Pennywise has returned with his circus of horrors for all.

“It Chapter Two” is the big screen adaptation of the popular Stephen King epic novel of the same name.

“Chapter Two” was directed by Andy “It” Muschietti and showcases the talents of Jessica “Dark Phoenix” Chastain, Bill “SNL” Hader, James “Glass” McAvoy, and Bill “Hemlock Grove” Skarsgård as Pennywise. It is sure to kill at the box office this weekend.

If you are new to this tale, I suggest that you read the novel before seeing the “It” (2017), today’s mentioned release, or the popular ‘It” (1990) starring Tim “Rocky Horror Picture Show” Curry.

Great story with differing takes but agree on the fact that this clown is no good.

If you enjoy clown horror, there is a subgenre for all you devotees to the scariest show on Earth and there are a ton of good and bad titles for you to select from on DVD or streaming services.

If that is not enough for you, you could always update your home décor with the old hobo clown knick knacks which seemed to be popular thirty years ago in some houses.

Those decorative end table displays were and still are odd.

Confronting fears is healthy and builds character.

Confront it, defeat it, and grow by moving on leaving fear behind you in the dust.

Most of the time we allow ourselves to fester in the fear which exaggerates our perceived threat making it appear to be worse than it is.

Don’t let your mind run wild making a bad situation worse.

There is a fine line between protection and paralyzing oneself when dealing with true horror.

You must learn to harness and master it, especially if you spent this weekend in a darkened room with Pennywise on the big screen.

Whatever you do, don’t take the balloon.

Have a float free film-tastic day.
