Group seeking donations for downtown murals project
A newly-formed group of Winchester residents is aiming to have interactive murals added to buildings in downtown Winchester, and is looking for the public’s help to make the project a reality.
Interact Winchester has been working for several months with local business owners and two artists from George Roger Clark High School’s Fine Arts Cohort, Destiny Napier and Jeremy Reed, to plan four murals that will be placed on various businesses in downtown Winchester.
Each mural will be interactive, meaning visitors to downtown Winchester can pose with the mural and take photos to essentially become part of the artwork.
Murals are planned for Harper’s Pawn Shop, the Cupcake Apothecary, The Winchester Sun and a vacant building at the corner of Main and Broadway streets.
The group is asking for donations to purchase paint for the murals.
Donations can be made to the Interact Winchester account set up at D&S Hardware in downtown Winchester. All donations will go directly toward the cost of the murals. Donations of any amount are welcome.
