Campbell Junior High School football opened their season with a 50-0 victory against conference rival McNabb Middle Thursday night.

The stadium had a good crowd for the season opener and they were ready for some football. They weren’t the only ones.

“I’m tickled,” RDC head coach Tony Lanning said. “For these kids to come out here and play a game like they did, I’m excited.”

The team was firing on all cylinders, and their unselfish play was one of the keys to success in their big win, Lanning said.

“It comes down to them not caring who gets the credit,” Lanning said. “Everyone got to play tonight. Even those who might not get much playing time this season, they came in and made plays.”

This is far from the end of RDC’s journey. With hopes to win the conference, they’ll have to take it day by day, Lanning said.

“Monday’s a work day,” Lanning explained. “If we would’ve lost this game, we would’ve still put in the same work on Monday.”

RDC’s next game is an away game against Harrison County at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
