TV listings moved into daily paper
Published 9:00 am Friday, August 4, 2017
Starting today, The Winchester Sun has converted its TV listing publication into a condensed version that will print inside the newspaper each day.
The listing will highlight primetime programming and allow for more up-to-date information as well as a larger text size that readers requested.
“This was not an easy decision because we know that a small segment of our readers enjoyed the full TV book. In addition to addressing some issues with timeliness and readability, this change reflects that the majority of people access this programming information through their television service provider or on the internet,” Sun publisher Michael Caldwell said. “This allows us to better utilize our valuable resources toward achieving our core mission: providing local news and sports coverage you cannot find anywhere else.”
The listings will also be available online at winchestersun.com or subscribers can pick-up a photocopied version at the office.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why make this change?
After evaluating our current TV book model, the listings were printed too small and they were not as up to date because our production scheduled required us to print too far in advance.
Where will I find the TV listings?
The daily primetime (6 p.m.-Midnight) listings will be printed each day, so they will be the most accurate, up-to-date listings each day.
What about the weekend edition?
Saturday and Sunday primetime listings will be printed together in the weekend edition.
Are there other options to receive the listings?
Yes, you can visit our website (winchestersun.com) and click on TV listings on the navigation bar or you can stop by our office to pick up a photocopied version.
There are too many listings or my favorite channel is not listed.
Please contact our office and let us know, and we will try our best to get those channels added.
Why only produce the primetime?
In order to produce the listings in a larger font and format, we needed to choose the most watched time slot that reflects the most daily programming changes.
