By her own admission, Chlandra Chenault – the niece of current City of Winchester Commissioner Joe Chenault – has always been keen on serving others.
While working full-time at the Clark County Circuit Court, that desire spurred a business idea that was recognized on Wednesday, April 2.
Chenault’s at-home business, titled Designs & More LLC, was welcomed into the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Chamber’s main office building on 61 S. Main Street.
“I’m an event coordinator and design artist,” said Chenault. “I will host events.”
Chenault was joined at the ribbon-cutting ceremony by a slew of friends and family members, as well as Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cindy Banks – who began the ceremony – and Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission Executive Director Jill Hamlin.
Chenault explained in further detail what her business entailed.
“I go out, and I do birthday parties…I do weddings. I do baby showers,” she said. “[I do] any kind of event that requires my decorations and expertise in coordinating.”
Thus far, Chenault has already gained a positive reputation.
She’s currently planning and coordinating the next gala for the Clark County Equity Coalition.
Plus, on Saturday, May 24, she will host her first event—a women’s empowerment luncheon at First Baptist Church on 37 N. Highland Street.
Vache King will be a speaker at the event, and former Clark County Circuit Court Clerk Martha Miller will serve as mistress of ceremony.
Chenault spoke further about her passion.
“I’ve always had a passion for decorating [and] luxury, and so I’ve started with my house. My house looks elegant,” she said. “I took some classes and started my own business.”
Presently, Designs & More LLC can be found under the name “Designs & More LLC by Chlandra” at the following Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/designsandmorellc.
A website that will be uploaded soon is still under construction.
Chenault offered some final words when asked if there was anything she’d like the community to know.
“I will work with them on budget-friendly [options],” she said. “I am mobile. I will come to them. [We’ll] work together, and I’ll create a memorable piece for them based upon their needs.”
