The Boonesboro Lions Club awarded a scholarship to George Rogers Clark High School graduate Taylor Kincaid July 13, at the club house on Ford Hampton Road.
For many years, the club has been noted for its fundraising activities, selling fish and country ham sandwiches at yearly events such as the fish fries and Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival.
Proceeds from these efforts go to providing eyesight assistance as well as other support to the residents of Clark County.
This is the 10th year the club has awarded scholarships to GRC graduates who plan to continue on with a college education.
Rich Gomez, the Boonesboro Lions Club Scholarship chairman, cited the challenging tasks of choosing a recipient from the 13 applicants this year.
“They all excelled in their academic achievements and showed a high level of involvement in community service activities,” Gomez said, “and if we could, we would award a scholarship to each and every applicant.”
Taylor Kincaid will be attending the University of Pennsylvania in the fall and plans to major in networks and social systems engineering. The club wishes her a bright and prosperous future.
