For over a decade, Jen Algire has been an active member of The Greater Clark Foundation – which seeks to provide leadership to the Clark County community through developing vision and taking action toward a compelling future.
However, with a new role in mind, change is on the horizon.
As stated in a press release from GCF, Algire has announced that she’ll be stepping down from her role as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization in order to pursue a new opportunity as Executive Vice President at the Union for Reform Judaism.
In preparation for the departure, which will become effective in March 2025, The Greater Clark Foundation has begun its search for a new President and Chief Executive Officer to guide the organization in its next chapter of growth and continued community support.
“Leaving GCF is bittersweet,” stated Algire. “It has been an honor to lead an organization that truly believes in the power of community, love, and trust as tools for creating lasting change. While I’m excited for this next chapter, I will always carry the values we’ve cultivated together at GCF. The relationships we’ve built, the trust we’ve fostered, and the impact we’ve made will always be a part of me.”
Among other notable accomplishments, Algire stewarded a $3 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, a milestone validating GCF’s approach and unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion. This gift underscored the national recognition of GCF’s work and powerfully affirmed the Foundation’s investment in building relationships and creating sustainable change.
Additionally, Algire played an essential role in developing and the creation of Legacy Grove Park on W. Lexington Avenue. The innovative public park has become a cornerstone of the Clark County community, enhancing the region’s quality of life and well-being. Legacy Grove Park reflects Algire’s vision of creating spaces dedicated to bringing others together, fostering inclusion, and providing lasting benefits to all residents.
Algire was also instrumental in the creation of a robust peer network, connecting GCF with like-minded organizations and community leadership nationwide. Her work was rooted in GCF’s belief that institutional philanthropy should be a force for good in an increasingly complex world, and she helped establish GCF as a national leader in promoting both systemic change and trust-based philanthropy.
Algire also led GCF through the development of a formal Commitment to Equity and Inclusion, thereby ensuring that its strategies and actions aligned with an overall vision of creating a more just and inclusive society. Algire helped draft core beliefs reflecting the organization’s broader community investment strategy that prioritizes capacity, communication, collaboration, and cohesive values central to GCF’s efforts to stimulate a forward-leaning, self-sustaining, engaged, and resilient community identity.
“Jen’s leadership has been nothing short of transformative for GCF”, stated Darren Henry, Chairman of GCF’s Board of Trustees. “She has steered the Foundation to new heights. We are profoundly grateful for her vision, her ability to build and nurture relationships, and her tireless commitment to creating lasting, positive change. While we will miss her relationship, we look forward to continuing GCF’s work and ensuring that our mission remains strong.”
As the organization begins a search for a new President & CEO, the Board of Directors is committed to finding a leader that will continue building on Algire’s legacy, advancing the Foundation’s mission of equitable access, opportunities, and outcomes for all people. It will focus on selecting a candidate who shares GCF’s core values and is committed to fostering collaboration and community empowerment.
“Though we have not known Greater Clark Foundation without Jen Algire, we are confident that GCF will continue to thrive during this leadership transition,” said Henry. “Jen’s leadership has set a strong foundation, and our next President & CEO will have the opportunity to build on that legacy and guide GCF to even greater success.”
