Lee R. Gatson, 85, widower of Sheila M. Gatson, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Clark Regional Medical Center. A native of Winchester, Kentucky, he was born on July 29, 1939, to the late Oscar “Jack” Frank Gatson, Jr. and Laura Casteel Gatson. He was a retired trim carpenter and a member of Fairfax Baptist Church. Mr. Gatson was also a United States Air Force veteran.
Other survivors include one son, Jeffrey Gatson of Stafford, Va and a daughter-in-law, Linda Gatson of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Tiffany Gatson and Jeffrey Gatson; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Vannoy and Linda Faust, both of Virginia; a brother-in-law, Dennis Jessee of Harlem, Ga.; two sisters, June Hartung of Louisville, and Peggy Short of Las Vegas, NV., six nephews, Rev. Jack Gatson, Steven Tipton, Anthony Tipton, Nick Nunan and Jimmy Jessee; seven nieces, Laura Fulks, Ramona Nunan, Teresa Sullivan, Bambi Troup, Kim Meadows, Dawn Bible and Sherri Milleson. He is also survived by several great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Linda Dixon.
Preceded in death by his wife and his son, David Wayne Gatson, a brother, William A. Gatson, and a nephew, Stuart Gatson.
Services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Scobee Funeral Home by Rev. Jack Gatson. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Scobee Funeral Home.
