While the Kentucky State Park system is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Fort Boonesborough is also celebrating its own special occasion. 

With Fort Boonesborough is celebrating its 50th birthday, and on Saturday, June 22, 2024, anyone employed during those 50 years will be given free admission to the fort. 

Not only is it the fort’s birthday, but it’s also the highly anticipated annual Gathering of Descendants genealogy day. This event, sponsored by the Fort Boonesborough Foundation and Society of Boonesborough, is an opportunity to delve into your family’s history if your ancestors passed through this area. 

Concessions are available with birthday cake after lunch. 

Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. 

Admission is $8 for adults. Children ages 6-12 can enter for $5. Children ages five and under are free. 

All parking will be on Highway 388 in the upper lot past the campground. A free shuttle service to the fort will be provided.
