The Winchester Black History & Heritage Committee will once more be hosting a Juneteenth Celebration.
On Saturday, June 15th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Park, Juneteenth Freedom Day will be recognized.
Heritage Park is located at 131 West Washington Street in Winchester.
Juneteenth, a federal holiday in the United States celebrated annually on June 19th, commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States, which took place on June 19th, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas.
The guest speaker will be Democratic Representative George Brown Jr., of the Kentucky House of Representatives’ 77th District.
The event will also feature music, bounce houses, games, food, and more!
Individuals are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
To reserve a booth, interested vendors can call (502) 542-0201.
