William (Bill) Everett Baber, 83, husband of Linda Fox Baber, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at home. He was born January 16, 1941 in Clark County to the late Ora Baber Parido and William Nelson Baber.
Bill is survived by his children Sarah Elizabeth ( Jeff ) Gilde of Goshen KY and Paul Warren (Katherine) Baber of Winchester KY; six grandchildren, William Scott (Austin) Gilde of Louisville KY, Grace Elizabeth (Josh) Goldberg of Louisville KY, Greta Christine (Jared) Fall of Carmel, IN, William Evan Baber, Mason Conner, and Thomas Rankin Baber all of Winchester; and four great grandchildren Bode Daniel Gilde and Max William Gilde, and Frankie Ora Goldberg and Winnie Leavitt Goldberg all of Louisville KY;
A sister, Carolyn Sue Raney of Winchester; a brother in law, George Richard (Becky) Fox of Orangeburg SC. And numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother David Alan Parido and a sister in law, Joanne (Lewis)Fox Ricketts.
Bill was a graduate of Clark County High School. He attended and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling.
Bill began his career as a high school math teacher and was loved by many students. He later became the Director of Pupil Personnel at George Rogers Clark High School. Bill retired as a health physicist for the U.S. Army at the Bluegrass Army Depot in 2007. He then enjoyed teaching GED classes in the Winchester community. He was also a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Winchester.
Bill was loved deeply by his family and they will treasure their memories of him always. His special sense of humor will be greatly missed.
