Alma Jean Vaughn (Mamaw Jean), 94, of Winchester passed away peacefully at her home on March 30, 2024 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Strauder and Florence Witt; first husband Jack W. Lail, second husband Brady Vaughn, Jr., her brothers Dallas Witt and Doris Witt, a niece Karen Witt, and a step great-grandson Christian Wilhold.

She is survived by her sister Dorothy (Collis) Moberly, Richmond, Ky; daughter Debra (Robert) Gilliland), Winchester, Ky; and son Steven Lail, Winchester, Ky. Grandchildren David (Kristy) Aldridge, Winchester, Ky; Stacy (Gilbert) Wilhold, Huntsville, AL; Jim (Katie) Gilliland, Charlotte, NC; Keli (Brent) Osborne, Speedwell, TN; Kristen (Lynn) Toler, Winchester, Ky; Great-grandchildren Lauren (Ryan) Grigsby, Winchester, Ky; Keaton (Maddie) Aldridge, Winchester, Ky; Karlee (Ethan) Thomas, Winchester, Ky; Jake and Maddie Osborne, Speedwell, TN; Cameron and Shelby Toler, Winchester, Ky; Sara, Riley, and Drew Gilliland, Charlotte, NC; Colten and Caden Wilhold, Huntsville, AL Great-great-grandchildren Everlee Grigsby, Winchester, Ky; and Ryder Aldridge, Winchester, Ky. Also dear to Alma’s heart were two nephews, Gregg (Tami) Moberly, Winchester, Ky; and Donnie Witt, Dayton, OH, a niece Linda Meshulum, Dayton, OH.

Alma graduated from Mt. Sterling High School in 1947. She attended beauty school in Lexington, Ky, and worked at various beauty salons in the area for 20 years. She attended night school earning a business and typing degree which led to a position at Clark Energy where she retired. After she retired she volunteered at Clark Regional Medical Center for 15 years. Her family, church, and friends meant the world to her. She loved having everyone together. A special thank you to her caretakers Kathy and Diane Jones for their love and support.

Pallbearers will be David Aldridge, Keaton Aldridge, Ethan Thomas, Ryan Grigsby, and Floyd David Aldridge.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Gilliland, Drew Gilliland, Lynn Toler, Brent Osborne, and Jake Osborne
