Meet the candidates registered to run for local, state office in Clark Co.

The print version of this article mistakenly listed that Martha Miller and Tony Kirk are running for the position of county clerk. The two are actually vying for the office of circuit clerk.
The United States will elect a president in November with both houses of Congress in play, and there are local and state positions to fill as well.
The deadline to file to run for office recently passed in Kentucky, and this is how the local ballot stands.
Winchester and Clark County voters have two local elections on the ballot this fall.
Seven candidates have filed to run for the city’s four seats on the board of commissioners.
Incumbent Commissioners Kenny Book, Shannon Cox, Hannah Toole and Kitty Strode will seek reelection.
Other familiar names are throwing their hat in the ring.
Former Commissioner Joe Chenault is running to regain the position he was appointed to in late 2021 following the resignation of Ramsey Flynn.
Perennial local mayoral candidate Ralph Harrison has also declared his intention to run.
The only newcomer in the race is local businessman Carson Hunt.
In the race for Clark County Circuit Clerk, incumbent Democrat Martha Miller will face Republican Tony Kirk. Neither candidate will face opposition in the May Primary Election.
There will also be several races of interest at the state level.
State Rep. Ryan Dotson, a Republican, has filed to run for reelection in the 73rd House District and faces no primary opposition. His opponent in the fall, Democrat Rory Houlihan, will not face primary opposition either. Houlihan previously sought the Democratic nomination for the seat in 2022 but was defeated by Tommy Adams.
Local voters will also head to the polls to select a new representative on the Kentucky Supreme Court.
Pamela C. Goodwine and Erin Izzo have filed to run to replace retiring Winchester native Chief Justice Laurence VanMeter.
The 5th Supreme Court District is comprised of Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Scott and Woodford counties.
The Primary Election is May. 21st, and the General Election will be on Nov. 4th.
