Prewitt Lane Pace, 87, Dawsonville, GA, died Sept. 2, 2023. Prewitt was born to the late Vivian and Roger Pace on May 15, 1936, in Clark County, Kentucky. Prewitt worked the family farm, joined Army ROTC and earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1958. Following graduation, Prewitt joined the US Army, where he progressed through many roles over 20 years before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Prewitt married Peggy Parker in 1960 and traveled the globe as an officer of the US Army. Prewitt was stationed at many locations, including Hawaii and Texas, where his two children were born. Prewitt’s final assignment was at Macdill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Following his retirement from the military, Prewitt joined Dean Witter Reynolds in Saint Petersburg as a Vice President. Prewitt and Peggy were long time residents of the waterfront community of Venetian Isles, where they raised their family and were active in the community. Following Peggy’s passing in 2021, Prewitt moved to Georgia to be close to family.
Prewitt is survived by his children, Karen (Rick) Purcell, Robert (Ellen) Pace, three grandchildren, and two sisters, Barbara and Linda. Prewitt’s wife Peggy and his sister Peggy recently passed. Prewitt’s life will be celebrated on Sept. 4, 2023, in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Dementia Society of America Information Support Research would be appreciated.
