Superintendent Dustin Howard isn’t playing around when it comes to making sure all instructional staff is equipped with elite teacher training, resources and support.
“When we support teachers,” Howard said, “CCPS students will receive the world-class education they deserve.”
Kagan Cooperative Learning sessions were held Aug. 7-9 across the district.
An advanced session called Kagan Coaching took district and teacher leaders on a two-day deep dive into how to come alongside teachers in effectively implementing proven classroom strategies.
Howard said the workshop’s goal is to “create instructional leaders, not just building managers.”
Staff trainers at each building, along with the district’s full-time instructional coaches, will support teachers in boosting student outcomes through engagement-based Kagan structures.
“We can no longer only focus our energy on reacting to student misbehavior and using reactionary discipline as the ‘fix’ to schools,” Howard said. “Instead, we must proactively support our students in the classroom by engaging them in their learning.”
