A late-night bicycle ride turned into a drug arrest last Saturday for a Winchester man.
Danny R. Abney, 47, is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of marijuana.
Abney was riding his bicycle on Washington Street early in the morning when Winchester Police stopped him, and it was later revealed Abney had an active bench warrant, according to the citation.
After being placed under arrest, according to the citation, a search of Abney by the arresting officer allegedly yielded “rolled up” pieces of paper and “a white powder substance believed to be heroin.”
The citation states that Abney allegedly told the officer he had “dope” in his shoes. Another search of Abney resulted in the discovery of a “white/gray powder substance consistent with heroin” and a “small amount” of marijuana.
Abney is lodged at the Clark County Detention Center on separate $3,500 cash bonds. He was arraigned in Clark County District Court on Wednesday.
