Barron Elliott Speakes, 25

Barron Elliott Speakes was born Feb. 12, 1994 and passed on to heaven April 30th, 2017. Although he only spent 25 years on this earth, he definitely left his mark!

After graduating from GRC, Barron began his own remodeling and landscaping business. He loved to work with his hands, and took pride in his work — whether laying tile or mulching a yard. According to his customers, his work ethic was beyond reproach.

Barron was definitely not all work and no play. He loved any adventure involving the water, mountains, dirt back riding, 4 wheeling, jet skiing — anything that involved some risk. He loved to live on the edge.

When Barron began to struggle with drug addiction he knew he did not want to live this way. So, last October, he admitted himself into Satori Waters Rehab in Ft. Lauderdale, FLA , where he really seemed to find himself. He loved being clean and never gave up no matter how many times he would relapse.

In finding himself, he began to love others and shared Christ in a way he had never done. It was through his death that we were made aware of just how many people’s lives he touched.

Barron’s “Celebration of Life Service” will be held this Sunday, May 7, at Southland Christian Church on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington (Building B), with visitation from 4 to 6 pm and the “Celebration Service” at 6 pm. It will be an unusual, yet awesome service to hopefully help others in his situation.

Pallbearers are: Dylyn Brineger, Gabriella Brinegar, Austin Thore, Landon Thore, Doug Bradley, Tommy Bradley, McCall Considine and Ryder Maxam. The Graveside service will be Monday, 12 noon at the Lexington Cemetery on Leestown Pike. Those participating will have a specific place to wait at the cemetery until the hearse comes and leads us to the burial sight.

In leui of flowers, the family is asking that donations be given to the Mt. Zion Christian Church Youth Group, as this will help fund their summer mission trips, many of which Barron was part of.

Barron is survived by his father & mother, Kenny & Judy Speakes, sister Amanda Speakes, sister Lyndsey Brinegar (Jason), niece Grabbriella, and nephews Dylyn and Braxton, and many, many friends all over America!
