A husband and wife charged with the 2015 death of a Clark County man requested felony mediation to try and resolve their cases.

Prosecutors and attorneys for Roger and Debra Kinney are responsible for agreeing on a mediator, usually a retired judge, to hear the case and attempt to find an agreeable resolution. Any agreements must be accepted by the sitting judge in the case.

The Kinneys are charged in connection with the May 2015 death of Darryl Wayne Wiseman. Roger Kinney was indicted for murder and tampering with physical evidence, while Debra was charged with tampering with physical evidence for allegedly helping hide the body on their farm on Twin Fork Lane.

Roger Kinney was arrested in July 2015, more than two and a half months after Wiseman was last seen. The remains were found in a shed on the farm, wrapped in a pool liner. It was identified as Wiseman by dental records and orthopedic X-rays, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Both Kinneys were arrested separately in Warren County, Ohio. At the time, Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said Roger Kinney confessed to Wiseman’s death to detectives while jailed in Ohio. Debra Kinney, likewise, was arrested in Ohio and returned to Clark County.

Wiseman was never reported missing. The sheriff’s office began investigating in July 2015 after a person hired to work on the farm reported a possible homicide on the farm. An initial search found nothing.

When the man returned to the farm to work again, he noticed a foul smell and notified law enforcement again. This time, they found the body in the shed.
