A Winchester woman was arrested for allegedly  trying to burn a book on the side of a residence.

53-year-old Dana Stephenson faces one count of 1st-degree arson for allegedly attempting to burn a children’s book she claimed was evil, according to court records

On Monday at approximately 10:38 a.m., Winchester Police officers responded to a call for service in reference to a female setting a fire at 207 Mutual Ave, according to court records.

When officers arrived the scene they observed a pail that was actively smoking. Officers encountered Stephenson in the back of the home where she allegedly stated that she burned the book, according to court records.

Stephenson allegedly stated that she set the book up against the side of the house, threw lighter fluid on it, and set it on fire to see if anyone would come. Upon taking Stephenson into custody she began to resist and had to have her arms physically placed behind her back and then had to be removed against her will from the residence. She was screaming and uncooperative, according to court records.

Stephenson is also charged with one court of 1st-degree resisting arrest.

As of Wednesday morning, the Clark County Detention Center’s website lists Stephenson as an inmate being held with a $100,000 cash bond. She is set to be arraigned in Clark County District Court early Wednesday afternoon.
