Regionals is a week away in Barboursville with prelims Friday, Feb 4, and then finals on Saturday, Feb. 5th. Next stop, Fastest swimmers dive into the next level — the state championship.

“I think we have some fine tuning to do before we head to Barbourville for our regional meet,” Richardson said. “There are some technique things that we can perfect, which will help drop even just a hundredth of a second off their times.”

Cards compete in Region 8, one of the toughest in Kentucky.

“Region 8 is a fast region and our year-round swimmers will have some tough competition,” Richardson said. “Everyone gets to go to regionals. Some may only be swimming 1 event, but they will still get to go and compete.”

Lastly, Richardson gave a big shout out to Riley Williams, a junior who placed first in the women’s 50-yard freestyle.
