Clark County Public Schools announced that Thursday (Jan. 6) will be a nontraditional instruction day — no in-person instruction.

“As you know inclement weather is approaching for tomorrow. While it won’t affect the morning commute, it is projected to affect the afternoon commute. To avoid an early dismissal to get students home safely across the district, tomorrow will be our first Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day,” according to CCPS email sent Wednesday evening.  “We want to notify our CCPS family as timely as possible to assist with planning.”

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from January 6, 10:00 AM EST until January 6, 10:00 PM EST

Total snow accumulations is expected to between one to three inches with peak snowfall between noon and 6 p.m. across the region in portions of central Kentucky north of the Western Kentucky and Blue Grass Parkways, according to the National Weather Service.

Staff will be available remotely, by school phone or email to assist with student work. As a reminder, an NTI Day protects our calendar.  The state has allowed us the use of NTI days for inclement weather or COVID related issues.  Students can access any work they may have misplaced on our CCPS website by clicking on the red button toward the top of the CCPS website “NTI Resources” or under “Students/Parents” or by clicking directly on: https://sites.google.com/ clark.kyschools.us/ digitallearning/parents- students/nti-learning

All NTI work will be graded and recorded for state reporting purposes. While it’s important to stay on top of homework and assignments, we understand there may be barriers to getting NTI work turned in the next day.  Students have 3 days to complete and turn in work.
