Santa and perhaps Buddy the Elf along with his co-elves visited Winchester VFW Post 2728 to give presents to 36 children on Sunday. Wanda Martin sang songs with the kids while they waited on Santa. They also had a pizza party with dessert.
VFW deserves praise for helping Santa spread Christmas cheer this time of year.
“This is an annual Christmas tradition,” said Wayne Gibson, VFW Post Commander. “We want to make sure everyone gets a gift. It means a lot to us when we see the kids’ looks of their faces when they receive thier gifts.”
To quote Buddy the Elf about Santa, “I know that guy!” Well, the Winchester Sun is going withhold Santa’s secret identity to preserve the secret and mystery of the holiday spirit for children who may be reading this newspaper. Elves were cool too.
“Our Santa — he loves the kids and the kids love him, so it makes everything very worthwhile,” Gibson said. “Elves had a blast too. Kids were tickled to see them.”
Gibson was quick to praise those who made the day and season special for these children.
“We want to send out our thanks to everyone who participated and donated to make this a success,” he said.
