George Rogers Clark High School’s swim team dominated the lanes recently at tri-meet against Madison Southern and Berea Community High School.

Cards’ Coach Ashleigh Richardson praised the team’s effort for the Dec. 4 home meet and noted how times are improving, swimmers getting stronger. Madison Southern defeated both Cards’ boys’ and girls’ team. Girls’ team beat Berea but the boys’ team fell to this aquatic opponent.

“Very proud,” she said. “We were missing a lot of Sailfish (local AAU swimmers) kids on Saturday because they were at a meet in Louisville. To be such short handed, we did very well overall. The women’s team stepped up to the plate to be beat Berea.”

Richardson said based off Saturday’s meet, Frauke Schepers is female athlete of the week. She placed second in the 200 yard IM and first in the 100-yard backstroke. She ended up going season’s best times in both of those events as well — so far.

Cards next meet is Dec. 15 against Montgomery County at the College Park Fitness Center.
