The Clark County Fiscal Court voted to end a long-time property lien against Stuff Recycling on Thursday.
The county placed an $86,000 lien against Stuff following the three-day fire at the businesses’ Lexington Road location in June 2018 to recoup the cost it took to tame the blaze. Nearly three dozen agencies, including state officials and fire departments from neighboring counties, assisted with the effort.
Clark County Attorney William Elkins said that the county recovered a little over $67,000 of the lien’s value.
“That money having been paid and placed in the coffers of the county, it is now time to release the lien against Stuff. Basically, they kept their end of the deal; now it’s time for us to do it,” Elkins said.
Fire Department Promotion and Hires
A new battalion chief was sworn in for the Clark County Fire Department.
Brandon Stamper took the oath administered by Judge/Executive Chris Pace during the meeting and received a pin signifying his new rank.
A battalion chief is usually the highest-ranking officer on a shift and is tasked with various supervisory duties.
Stamper is a long-time veteran of the department and previously held the rank of captain.
The department also welcomed two new full-time firefighters at the meeting, Michael Frank and Shawn Puckett. Both were previously employed by the department in a part-time capacity.
