June Mae Smith Curtis, 95

June Mae Smith Curtis, 95, Winchester, widow of Henry F. Curtis, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 in her home.

She was born March 22, 1921 in Perry County, KY. to the late George and Alma Edwards Smith. June worked as a nurse’s aide and was a proud member of the Log Lick Homemakers Club. She was very active in the Winchester Generation Center where she made many great friends. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Lexington.

June, commonly called “Mama June,” had a great love for all children. She loved flowers, gardening and cooking. She loved life and never met a stranger. She loved visiting Mary Sue in Denver and exploring the West. She will be greatly missed by all.

Surviviors include one son, Steve (Connie) Curtis of Winchester; one daughter, Mary Sue Curtis of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren, Dustin Curtis, Todd Curtis, Steve Curtis, Jr., Tammy Curtis King, Bridget Curtis, Heather Curtis Hanseler, Brandy Curtis, Cyndi Curtis Henry, Kimberly Williamson Patton, Amie Williamson Keltner; two brothers, Paul Smith and Charles Smith. She also leaves behind several great and great-great grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Curtis; one daughter, Pamela Curtis Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Monday, March 6, 2017, at Scobee Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Trautner officiating. Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
