RDC Middle has traditionally played baseball at the community fields in Lykins Park, but with the newly built GRC Cardinal Field at the high school, RDC got a “hand me down” full of history and character. The field needs a lot of work (it was not used last season due to covid) and the facilities need a polish, but it’s still home.
RDC invited Bondurant Middle into their house to kick off the season. The game was full of action with two well-matched teams. The action doesn’t always lead to high scores. Bondurant bettered the Cards by just one run, winning the game 3-2. Game standouts were pitcher Evan Crowe, striking out seven and walking one. At the plate, Haddon Cecil went 2 for 3 for the Cardinal offense.
The Cards are on the road today, March 31, at Scott County.
