Clark County’s COVID-19 incidence rate, once in 90s, has dropped into the 20s.

The incidence rate is the number of coronavirus infections per 100,000 population. It was at 29.15 Wednesday, its lowest rate in months. The highest was when it was at 90.2 on Jan. 8, according to the Clark County Health Department’s daily count.

This week, the incidence rate has steadily fallen. On Monday it was 35.06, and on Tuesday, it was 29.94.

On Wednesday, the Health Department reported only seven new cases of the virus and 212 active cases overall.

Since March 2020, Clark County has had 2,301 COVID cases with 2,070 recovered. Nineteen people in the county have died of the virus.

Kentucky as a whole reported 1,914 new COVID-19 cases for the state Wednesday and 49 new deaths, bringing the total for Kentucky to 4,175.

On Wednesday, there were 1,191 people in the state hospitalized with the virus, according to the Governor’s Office.
