Parents of Clark County Preschool students had the opportunity to get a free coat for their child Wednesday, thanks to a local non-profit organization.
Kara Carter, a family service worker at the school, said the coats were donated by Believing in Forever, a non-profit organization based in Lexington.
“It was huge,” Carter said of the donation.
Wednesday, school workers were on hand to distribute the coats and a few other goodies, to families who arrived to take part.
“We are excited,” Carter said. “It’s awesome we got this many coats. We hope every family can benefit.”
Presently, there are 240 students at the preschool, she said.
Carter said it was the first time the school had a coat drive, and the first time she had heard of Believing in Forever.
“We just got an email in October about partnering with Believing in Forever,” Carter said. “We weren’t expecting this many coats to come.”
Deanna Gay, also a family service worker, said she knows Devine Caracamo, who runs Believing in Forever.
“He does a lot of non-profit work in Fayette County,” she said, adding this was his first time working outside of Lexington. “He was hustling to the last minute.”
Families were also able to pick up a meal for their child Wednesday, and Christian Appalachian Project contributed other things for families, she said.
