As of Thursday, Clark County remains in the state’s orange zone for its coronavirus incidence rate.

There have been at least 647 positive cases of the virus reported in the community since March. Of those, 59 were active Thursday and 576 had recovered.

There had been no new deaths in Clark County reported this week as of The Sun’s Thursday press deadline.

With 35 cases reported since Saturday, Clark’s incidence rate is 14.2.

All neighboring counties were listed as either red for critical spread or orange for accelerated spread.

According to the state’s Department for Public Health incidence rate map, Bourbon is listed orange, which is for counties with an incidence rate of at least 10 but less than 25.

Montgomery, Powell, Estill, Madison and Fayette counties are listed red, which is for county’s with an incidence rate of 25 or higher.

Only one Kentucky county, Edmonson, was listed as anything less than orange on Thursday. It was listed in the yellow zone for counties with an incidence rate of one or greater but less than 10.

The seven-day incidence rate is calculated by taking the total number of unique cases in each county over the past seven days, divided by seven to get a daily average, divided by the U.S. Census Bureau county population and multiplied by 100,000 to get the incidence per 100,000 people.

Statewide, there have been at least 115,000 positive cases of the virus and 1,534 deaths.

More than 2.16 millions COVID tests have been performed with a 6.5 percent positivity rate, which is the number of people testing positive compared to the total number tested.

At least 20,000 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
