The Clark County Health Department reported a spike in cases this week, with 20 new cases reported so far this week and nearly 200 cases total.

As of Monday, the department had gone four consecutive days without a new cases in the county, but Tuesday, four cases were reported and two more were reported Wednesday.

Thursday evening, the department reported 14 more new cases, bringing the total in the county to 199.

Two of the cases reported Thursday involve employees of Fountain Circle, a local nursing home and rehabilitation center where the bulk of the local cases have been reported.

Also on Thursday, the department reported four more patients, including two from Fountain Circle, had met criteria for recovery.

The department is working 27 active cases, including two residents of Fountain Circle, two employees of Fountain Circle and 23 community members.

Seven Clark residents have died from complications from the virus.

Gov. Andy Beshear reported 611 new cases and seven more deaths in his press conference Thursday.

In Kentucky, there have been 25,147 positive cases of the virus and 684 deaths. Of those cases, 7,046 have recovered.
