William David Stamper, 85, of Interlachen, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka. He was born in Winchester, Kentucky and resided in Putnam County, Florida, for 26 years.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army and Marine Corp during the Korean War and Vietnam War. Following his time in the service, William worked as a service station manager with Somerset Oil in Winchester and Mooreland, KY and later as a manager of Richard’s Poultry Farms in Zephyrhills, FL. He was known around Putnam County as the guy who would buy most anything – the more unique the better! William was a member of the DAV in Lexington and Cincinnati and American Legion Post #293 in Interlachen.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kellie Stamper, 2 sons, Darrell Stamper and Donald Stamper and his parents, Thomas H. Stamper and Gentry Willoughby Stamper.
