The Clark County Health Department has reported a big spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the county as a result of 13 residents and one employee from Clark County testing positive for the coronavirus at the Signature HealthCARE at Fountain Circle nursing home.

County Public Health Director Becky Kissick said in an email Monday afternoon that 13 residents and five staff members of the nursing home off of Van Meter Road had tested positive, but that only one of the employees was a Clark County resident.

Sunday night, the Health Department had reported its 21st case, the first since April 29, after Fountain Circle had reported that two of its employees had tested positive and that one was a Clark County resident. That resident is 60-year-old woman. The 13 nursing home residents included n the new total range in age from 50 to 100 years old.

Because of medical privacy rules, public health officials cannot provide any further informaton about any of those persons.

Health officials are working to identify and speak with anyone those people may have come in contact with while they have been infected, a process known as contact tracing.
