Another case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Clark County, bringing the county’s total to 20, the Clark County Health Department announced on its Facebook page Wednesday evening.

The most recent case involves a 24-year-old man.

Additional details about the person cannot be provided because of medical privacy laws.

It has been nearly a week since the last case in Clark County was confirmed April 22. That case involved a 24-year-old woman.

The first case in Clark County was reported March 15.

There have been no deaths related to the virus in Clark County.

In his press conference Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced there have been 4,375 cases in Kentucky, an increase from Monday’s total of 4,146.

So, far there have been 225 deaths related to the virus in Kentucky, with 12 of those deaths reported Tuesday in Beshear’s press conference.

“As with previous cases, the Health Department is working to identify and speak with all those who may have come in close contact with the person while contagious,” according to the Facebook post. “As lab testing increases, we expect to see additional cases.”

The Health Department offered guidance about how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“Please remember to wash your hands often and practice social distancing,” the post states. “Stay at least six feet from other people, do not gather in groups and avoid crowded places. When social distancing is not possible, please follow CDC guidance and wear a mask.”
