Two new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Clark County, the Health Department announced Saturday morning.

These are the sixth and seventh cases of the virus confirmed in the county.

The newest cases involve a 67-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man.

“Health officials are working with the Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) to identify and speak with all those who may have come in close contact with these individuals while contagious,” according to the statement posted to the department’s Facebook page Saturday.

The other cases include a 49-year-old man, a 27-year-old woman, a 33-year-old man, a 70-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man.

Additional details about the patients cannot be provided because of medical privacy laws.

So far, there have been 302 positive cases in Kentucky. Eight deaths have been attributed to the virus in the state.

“As cases of COVID-19 continue to spread throughout the commonwealth, we as a community, must take every necessary precaution to prevent community spread,” the statement said.

The Health Department offered these tips to help slow community spread:

— Wash hands, for at least 20 seconds, as frequently as
possible.
— Community gatherings should be canceled, postponed
or hosted virtually. Social gatherings should be hosted
virtually as well.
— Telecommute whenever possible. If telework is not
possible, practice social distancing by staying at least six
feet apart from one another at all times.
— Cancel non-essential travel. Stay healthy at home.
— Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
— Stay home if you are feeling ill.
— Cover your coughs and sneezes.
— Clean and disinfect surfaces often.
