The game began with RDC’s Brady Davis dominating the paint while Cooper Wasson took charge from the perimeter. The duo scored all 16 of Cardinals points in the first period while RDC jumped out to a five-point lead.

The second quarter was much of the same with Davis and Wasson scoring seven of the Cards’ eight points. JP Gaines was the lone Cardinal not named Davis or Wasson to score in the first half.

Campbell was able to extend their four-point lead into a 10-point lead in the third quarter as the rest of the team began to find a rhythm on offense. The Cardinals were also able to get into a rhythm on the defensive end of the floor coming out of the break, allowing only five points in the third.

But Scott County made a run in the fourth quarter to get back in the game. RDC failed to knock down free-throws and committed several turnovers to give Scott County a chance to win it in regulation, but Scott County failed to score before the buzzer went off, forcing overtime.

Scott County had the momentum heading into overtime after their 19-point fourth quarter. They jumped out to a quick lead, but Davis scored back-to-back baskets to keep the home team in it.

Down two points, the Cardinals had one possession to fend off a loss. Wasson banked in a shot as the buzzer went off to send it to double overtime.

Once again, RDC found themselves in a hole with not much time left, but Damarea Howard hit a huge 3-pointer to tie the game in the final minute.

Despite the Cards’ free-throw struggles in regulation, Davis was able to give the Cardinals a one-point lead with a free-throw with two seconds remaining. Davis then intercepted Scott County’s inbound pass, sealing the victory for RDC.
