The “little town” of Trapp is bringing the Christmas spirit back to life this year with its second annual live nativity.

Community volunteers are enacting the live nativity from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight at the former Trapp Elementary School building. The event is rain or shine.

Last year, Trapp native Lee-Ann Hampton-Robinson had the idea for the Christmas event after kick-starting the successful Halloween trick-or-treating festivities in Trapp.

Its success led to its return, and this year, event organizers are adding live music.

Angela Warner, a volunteer with the event, said more houses have also decorated for the event this year.

She said they had a huge crowd last year, and they’re hoping for even more this year.

“It was really well-received last year,” Warner said.

Nearly 50 volunteers make the “O’ Little Town of Trapp live nativity” happen.

Attendees can then take free pictures with Santa and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies at the Clark County Fire Department Station 3 in Trapp. Last year, Santa saw more than 100 children. Children can also write letters to Santa at Fox’s Grocery.

“It’s a goodwill thing to our community and everyone else,” Warner said.

Warner said the live nativity scene would also feature a few local animals.

“You can drive through the nativity, which is very convenient,” she said.

Warner said she hopes these events can bring the community together.

“We enjoy being able to have things in the area so people don’t have to leave the community to do things,” Warner said.

The community plans to add more events throughout the year in the future so there are things to do in Trapp year-round.

“We have a great community where everyone pulls together,” Warner said.
