As Veterans Day approaches, events to honor local veterans will begin this week.

Starting Friday and running through Tuesday, there are various ways to recognize Veterans Day in Clark County.

The events schedule for local celebrations includes:

— Flag placement ceremony by George Rogers Clark JROTC cadets at 9 a.m. today at the Winchester Cemetery.

— Veterans recognition service at 9 a.m. Friday at Justice Elementary School

— Veterans Day breakfast and assembly, 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. respectively on Friday at Baker Intermediate School, 1645 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive

— Veterans recognition service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Clark County Preschool

— Veterans recognition service at 1 p.m. Friday at Shearer Elementary School

— Veterans Day program at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Strode Station Elementary School

— Veterans Day recognition ceremony and breakfast at Campbell Junior High School at 9 a.m. Monday

— Community veterans recognition service at 11 a.m. Monday at College Park Gym

— Generations Center Veterans Day program at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at 32 Meadow St.
