If you had friends visiting you in town, what would you take them to do so they could get a good feel of Winchester?
— Ginny Hawkenson: “…My best friend visited recently and we found plenty of things to do. We took the self guided walking tours of downtown and the rock walls provided by our tourist commission. While downtown we visited Masons on Main, Dirty South Pottery, Arts on Main, several of the boutiques, and snacked on a cupcake from Cupcake Apothecary. We visited Fort Boonesboro, ate at the Engine House, Gaunces, DJs and Loma’s, visited Beech Springs, spent a morning walking through the cemetery, and drove through our beautiful countryside.”
— Tara Kathryn Brewer: “If kids were accompanying me, I would take them to the wonderful new park off of Lexington Avenue, swing by Cupcake Apothecary for a sweet treat and water break, do some walking around downtown visiting all of the wonderful shops, maybe paint some pottery at Created by You, regroup at Gaunce’s Deli for a lunch break, then head out to Leed’s Theater and end with DJ’s dinner or Hall’s on the River! These are just a snippet of the many hidden treasures of Winchester!”
— Matt Stults: “I would take them to the Bluegrass Heritage Museum so they could learn the history of Winchester and how great Winchester is.”
— Fred Wilcoxson: “Abettor Brewing Co. for sure! Then Patrick’s Barbershop for a nice trim and shave.”
— Robin King: “A tour of ale8, Boonsboro, some of the wonderful businesses downtown, to our wonderful local game store Wizards of Game. Then to eat at Halls.”
— Cora Heffner: “Abettor, downtown shops, Engine House, drive through the beautiful countryside, Beech Springs Market, Hall’s. Show them where I work – our own radio station WWKY and BCTC. Soon – Legacy Grove.”
— Margie Ritchie Lanter: “Broadway Cafe has great food, excellent service, great prices and before you eat( or after) you can shop in the front for something new. There is auction there on Saturday night. Depends on what your guest like to do. Breakfast is good and burgers are the best.”
— Shirley Prewitt May: “Bluegrass Heritage Museum and a tour of Winchester’s beautiful murals by Phil May, and Mason on Main.”
— Lara Early Thornbury: “We’d take them to Harkness Edwards Vineyard for a tasting and then downtown to look around, followed by dinner at Lomas.”
— Dana Skinner Stefaniak: “I would show off our beautiful downtown, catch a performance at Leeds Center for the Arts visit the precious rescue dogs at FairyTails Pet Adoptions and enjoy a delicious meal at Halls On The River.”
— Sharae Boyd: “I would take a friend to The Engine House Pizza Pub for lunch and then take them to Dirty South Pottery, to throw clay or to shop. Both of those places really give off a small town vibe and are a great at representing Winchester, especially when so many things aren’t as great in our town.”
— Linda Morefield: “Civil War fort on the river and Halls for lunch, Fort Boonesboro, history museum.”
— Aimée Robbins: “We always take visiting friends and family to Loma’s at the Opera House and Abettor Brewing Company. If we have time we like to stop by Createdbyyou Ceramic-Studio. If they’re here one the right day, we like to go to the Winchester/Clark County Farmers’ Market.”
