Hannah Curreri represented George Rogers Clark in the Girls’ State Golf Championships.

Curreri shot an 80 at the region tournament to qualify as an individual after the Cardinals missed the cut as a team by six strokes.

The state tournament was held at Bowling Green Country Club from Oct. 8-9.

Curreri’s first day on the course saw her finish in the top 25 of all golfers, shooting an 81, good enough to tie her for 23rd.

The second day of the tournament saw heavy fog that caused delays in tee times throughout the morning. Curreri was still able to finish her round shooting an 89, giving her a 170 for the tournament.

Curreri competed in the state tournament all four years she was at GRC. Her score of 170 was her best score at the state tournament while she was at GRC, finishing two strokes better than her 2016 score.

After playing for GRC for six years, Curreri has finally swung her last club as a Lady Cardinal.

“The two days I played at the state tournament led to a bittersweet ending of my senior season,” Curreri said. “I was pretty emotional throughout my round with it being my last tournament as a Cardinal, but I managed to have fun and enjoy the round.”

Curreri made sure to thank all of the coaches, players, friends, family and the Winchester Country Club.

“I learned how to play the sport and have grown so much throughout my seven years on the GRC team,” Curreri said. “I’m sad that I’m no longer a Cardinal but I can’t wait to see what my future holds for college golf.”
